It’s back to school time again! When the school supplies go on sale, it’s time for that last trip to the lake. Summer is coming to an end, and it’s time to plan on healthy after school snacks and how to keep your child healthy at school. Essential oils need to be a part of your planning, too.
To avoid being overwhelmed, we suggest focusing on the individual aspects of your day. In this post, we’ll give you some ideas for healthy lunches and after-school snacks to ways to help children focus while doing their homework.
Back to School Lunch Ideas
One simple way to make sure your children are getting proper nutrition is a simple lunch fortified with essential oils you can make at home. If your children are old enough to help in the kitchen, get them involved in helping make their own lunch for the next day.
Here’s a simple, wholesome sandwich idea for the lunch box:
Wild Orange Peanut Butter Sandwich
- Peanut butter
- Wild Orange essential oil
- Fresh banana slices
- Whole wheat bread
- In a small bowl mix two drops of Wild Orange essential oil into two tablespoons of peanut butter.
- Spread peanut butter onto bread.
- Peel banana and slice into bite-size pieces.
- Add bananas to sandwich and drizzle with honey.
The Wild Orange essential oil adds a fun, new flavor to the peanut butter!
Back to School Immune Support
Some essential oils that are specifically used for periodic immune support are Wild Orange, doTERRA On Guard®, Thyme, and Lemon. Before your child heads off to school, diffuse one of these oils as everyone gets ready for the day. To protect them at school, rub a drop of On Guard on the bottom of your child’s feet as they get dressed. (You can also place two drops in a glass of water.)
You can also add a homemade hand sanitizer to your child’s backpack. Check our On Guard Hand Sanitizer post for the directions.
After School Snacks
Every parent knows children burn energy at an astounding rate and have what seems like an insatiable appetite. Check out these healthy snack ideas from previous posts.
For a healthy dinner, try some easy Vegetarian Black Bean Burgers.
Aromatherapy is an excellent way to enjoy the benefits of essential oil. Inhaled oils have a long history of enhancing feelings of relaxation, encouragement, excitement, focus, and well-being. The best part of diffusing essential oils is they support a healthier indoor environment.
The reason for diffusing will depend on the needs of your child. After a long day at school and high emotions, a calming oil like vetiver can be beneficial. For those low energy days, diffuse peppermint. For an added effect, diffuse a mixture of Peppermint, Frankincense, and Wild Orange.
When your child needs help focusing on their studies, rub InTune on their neck. InTune is doTERRA’s proprietary blend of essential oils with the ability to enhance and sustain a sense of focus. Focusing on homework can be difficult, especially during a child’s formative years.
Back to School can be less stressful with essential oils.
